US President Donald Trump praised the United States military during a speech to Republican lawmakers at a Miami resort, where he was greeted with applause while the popular song "Proud To Be An American" played in the background.
In his speech, Trump initially focused on domestic issues, but also mentioned a military operation that he said was "short-term" and aimed to "get rid of some very bad people."
Addressing the audience, he praised the power of the American armed forces and their role in recent conflicts.
“How good is our military?” he asked the crowd. “I rebuilt the military… I didn’t think I would have to use it so much in my second term.”
Speaking about the operation called Epic Fury and the situation with Iran, Trump gave few details, but stressed that the operations are being carried out successfully from a military point of view.
He also praised cooperation with Israel.
"Together with our Israeli partners, we are destroying the enemy...", he said.
Trump added that the political situation in Iran remains unclear, stating that "right now nobody has any idea who the people are who are going to be the head of the country," hinting that future developments could influence the direction of the conflict.
