Kosovo Police Lieutenant of Serbian nationality, Bojan Jevtic, sent confidential and secret documents to Serbia, submitting them via internet communication platforms, the indictment of the Special Prosecution Office states.
It states that Jevtic sent them to the Serbian Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA) and that this action seriously endangered the security of Kosovo, for which the prosecution has requested that his sentence be in accordance with paragraph 6 of Article 124 of the Criminal Code, which provides for a sentence of 10 years to life imprisonment.
"From an unspecified period of time until 17.07.2025, respectively until the moment of his arrest, the defendant [redacted], in his capacity as a police officer with the rank of lieutenant and in the capacity of Head of the Operations Sector at the Border Police Station [redacted], intentionally and continuously collected, obtained and transmitted information and official documents classified as 'Confidential' and 'Secret', which are related to the security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo," the indictment for Bojan Jevtiqi states.
According to the Special Prosecution, Jevtiqi sent the BIA information that endangered the lives of officials of Kosovo's security institutions and citizens.
The indictment states that the WhatsApp and Telegram messaging applications were used to transmit state secrets to the BIA official, nicknamed "Qira", with whom he also met physically on several occasions in Belgrade.
"With these actions, the defendant, although aware of the classified nature of the documents and the possible consequences, has seriously violated national security, the constitutional order and the functioning of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as directly endangered the lives and safety of state officials and its citizens," the indictment states.
Former Kosovo police officer Aleksandar Vlajić was convicted of espionage in Kosovo last year after pleading guilty. This year, OSCE official Jelena Djukanović was also convicted in the first instance. She was sentenced to six years in prison.
And the trial of Muharrem Qerimi and Bedri Shabani has not started.
Fatmir Sheholli, who was part of the Serbian State Security in the 90s, is also in custody on suspicion of espionage.
