Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is continuing to cooperate with controversial businessman Zvonko Veselinović, despite him being under sanctions by the United States of America..

An investigative journalist from Croatia has made serious allegations of suspected involvement of networks linked to the Serbian government in illegal coal mining in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Veselinović is known for his close ties to Milan Radoićić, accused of being the main organizer of the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvečan.

According to reports, Serbian authorities are ignoring US sanctions and continuing financial cooperation with disputed figures, which is raising concerns about political and security implications in the region.

Zvonko Veselinović was added to the US Treasury Department's sanctions list on December 8, 2021, along with Milan Radoićić and other Kosovo Serbs, under measures based on the Global Magnitsky Act.

In the US Treasury statement, cited by REL, Veselinovic was identified as the leader of an organized crime group and as one of the most notorious corruption figures in Kosovo.

According to REL, the US has said that his group was involved in large bribery schemes with Kosovar and Serbian security officials, who, according to US allegations, facilitated the illegal trafficking of goods, money, narcotics and weapons between Kosovo and Serbia.

According to the Treasury Department, the Veselinovic brothers are also accused of making deals with politicians for mutual favors, including financing candidates and support for election victory, while in return - according to the US - they would receive the best infrastructure contracts, ownership information and control over certain areas of business.

Upon inclusion in the sanctions list, the assets of sanctioned individuals are blocked and American citizens are prohibited from cooperating with them.

The sanctions list also includes companies linked to Veselinović, including the construction company "Inkop/INCOP" from Ćuprija, as well as other businesses.

New charges: illegal coal mining in Bukova Kosa

Meanwhile, Croatian investigative journalist Domagoj Margetic has made allegations that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is connected to illegal coal mines in Bukova Kosa, near Prijedor in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Margetic, these suspected mines are controlled by Zvonko Veselinovic, who he claims has connections to structures close to Vucic.

Margetic stated that he filmed a machine from the "Inkop" company at the location where illegal mining activities are allegedly taking place, adding that these actions, according to him, also serve to launder and embezzle public funds from Serbia through operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He has called on international institutions, including the European Union and the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to react to these allegations.
