The former head of the Serbian Gendarmerie, retired General Bratislav Dikic, is now in charge of the Niš Forestry Company, the website of the public company Srbijašume has announced.
The Insajder television asked the cabinet of director of this public company what exactly qualifies Dikić to manage 55,938 hectares of state forest, given that he has been involved in police work in the past, but no reply was received, it was reported.
Insajder recalls that this is not Dikić’s first position at Srbijašume and that the same case happened in 2021, when he held the position of Assistant General Manager, as confirmed by published photographs and publications about the board meetings of the public company.
An analysis of the data on the company’s website shows that all the other managers are either forestry engineers or forestry masters, while Dikić has no degrees.
Dikić is a former gendarmerie commander who was arrested in Montenegro in October 2016 with 15 other people on suspicion of planning terrorist actions throughout the country during the parliamentary elections at the time, causing armed conflicts and even liquidations.
In May 2019, he was sentenced to a single term of eight years’ imprisonment by the Podgorica High Court for the offence of “attempting to commit terrorism by aiding and abetting a criminal organisation”, but on appeal, the Court of Appeal of Montenegro overturned the verdict.
Dikić became Commander of the Gendarmerie in 2009, having previously served as Head of the Niš Detachment of the Gendarmerie.
He was dismissed from his post in early July 2013 following media reports that he was involved in organised crime and extortion, and the immediate trigger for his dismissal was the arrest of a member of the gendarmerie on suspicion of manslaughter and the burning to death of two people at Jagodina, Insider reported.
In Oplenac with Ana Brnabić
Bratislav Dikić stood behind Prime Minister Ana Brnabić at the 2022 Oplenac National Day celebrations.
He stood in uniform in the queue behind the Prime Minister, and given that he is a retired general, it is not clear why he was in uniform at this meeting. In addition, Dikić was accused of attempting a coup in Montenegro for years, but the conviction was overturned./Nova.rs/
