“Vučić is a master of creating problems, which he later presents as foreign (in)actions that he should try to undo.” In order to maintain control over the Serbian people in Kosovo, but also the appearance in the rest of Serbia that he is still defending Kosovo, probably in some kind of collusion with Brussels and Pristina, he is permanently creating crises from which the Serbs, with the illusion of holding the defensive line, as a rule come out with new damage. Now, after the “heroic boycott” of the elections in Kosovo, Pristina will install its power at municipal level in the north of Kosovo without any legitimacy,” political analyst Dragomir Anđelković told Danas.
This, he says, would not have happened if the Belgrade regime had not pursued a nationally irresponsible policy for years. And, of course, all that will deepen the agony of the Serbian people, which, probably in the spirit of the practice of the Turkish “dahija”, they will try to rule by occupation.
“This will intensify the rhetorical war between Belgrade and Pristina, but we will not benefit from it”, Anđelković concludes.
Serbs in the north of Kosovo had an untouchable local authority before the Brussels Agreement was signed by the establishment, in which the current President of Serbia has already taken a key role, and then in 2013 the process of dismantling Serbian institutions and integrating people there into the Kosovo system began.
“Such a policy culminated in 2016 when the Civil Protection of the four Serb-majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo was abolished, and it was an institution that was not “civil” at all, but represented an effective mechanism of almost military-police defence and control of that part of our territory. And you know whose shoe is on whose footing, it plays a dominant role there. For his own reasons, Vucic made sure that the Albanians took over such a role from the Serbs even where it did not exist, i.e. in Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and North Kosovska Mitrovica”, emphasises Danas interlocutor.
This, he says, is likely to be the case now, after the “heroic” boycott of what would not have happened if the Belgrade regime had not for years pursued a nationally irresponsible policy, adding that Pristina, without any legitimacy in northern Kosovo, is also installing its authority at municipal level.
“Furthermore, it is possible that this is a dangerous game of diverting public attention. While Vučić will in the coming weeks defend the Serbs in the north of Kosovo according to the model of vain fan patriotism, until then Serbia will implement the so-called the Franco-German plan on the de facto recognition of our secessionist province (and the Serbian-Albanian body that should deal with it, the government quietly formed at the same time as it loudly talked about boycotting the elections). Then all of a sudden Vučić will proclaim victory and there will be, for example, repeated elections in the north of Kosovo, but also the formation of the Union of Serbian Municipalities, and that will actually be the seal of our defeat. Ordinary minority autonomy within the already, from the point of view of Belgrade’s new position, independent Kosovo state,” Anđelković explains.
The Danas interlocutor stresses that Vucic is deepening his strategy of creating problems and then “solving” them in order to mislead the public.
“What he is actually doing is making Serbia capitulate, by marketing the lie through the media and politics that, as Orwell would say, defeat is actually victory,” the political analyst concludes./Danas/
