Vučić accuses the US and Türkiye of arming albanians in Kosovo

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has accused the United States and Türkiye of being directly involved in arming Albanians in Kosovo, claiming that their alleged actions aim to threaten Serbia and the Serbian population.

“The Americans are arming Albanians in Kosovo, just as Türkiye is doing. The goal is an attack on Serbia and the Serbian people,” Vučić said during a speech delivered to foreign ambassadors.

He also accused Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo of forming a so-called “military alliance” against Serbia, questioning their right to cooperate in the field of security and defense. According to Vučić, these agreements have expanded to include Slovenia, while efforts are underway to involve Bulgaria as well.

According to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Serbia spent approximately $2.2 billion on defense in 2024, accounting for 2.6 percent of its GDP, making it the country with the highest military expenditure in the Western Balkans.

However, recent facts indicate that the most serious armed incidents in the region have been linked to actions originating from Serbian structures.

The most significant incident occurred in September 2023 in the village of Banjska, northern Kosovo, when an armed group of Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police, killing a police sergeant.

Three attackers were also killed during the clash.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by Kosovo Serb politician and businessman Milan Radoičić, who has since remained in Serbia without facing criminal prosecution.

Additionally, Kosovo’s Special Prosecution has filed indictments against Jovan Viqentijević, Dragiša Viqentijević, and Igor Dimović in connection with the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc water canal.

According to the indictment, the Viqentijević brothers planted explosives that damaged the canal. The investigation was conducted in cooperation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Forensic soil analysis taken from the suspects’ boots and from the blast site confirmed their presence at the scene.

The Special Prosecution stated that the evidence clearly proves that the defendants carried out a terrorist act./TheGeoPost.
