Tommaso Canetta serves as Deputy Director of Pagella Politica and Facta News since 2020. He has been engaged in fact-checking since 2016 and has been a professional journalist since 2012. Focusing mainly on European and international projects related to these newspapers, he oversees the coordination of fact-checking activities for the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) and the Italian Digital Media Observatory (IDMO). Furthermore, Tommaso is a member of the Steering Body of the European Fact-checking Standards Network (EFCSN) and the Task Force of the European Union Code of Practice on Disinformation.
From the Russian invasion of Ukraine to climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent Hamas/Israel conflict, Tommaso has covered various disinformation topics extensively in recent years. He has written articles and reports and has been a speaker at numerous international conferences addressing disinformation. Tommaso’s educational background includes a Master of Laws degree, specializing in European and international law, and a second-level university degree in journalism.
