The construction of Trump’s son-in-law’s hotel in Belgrade could be halted due to controversial documents. Der Spiegel believes this could be revenge for the Serbian president.
In an article dedicated to the Trump International hotel project in Belgrade, the German media Der Spiegel wrote that everything that has happened in the last few days could actually be revenge by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic against US President Donald Trump.
Der Spiegel stated at the beginning of the article that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, was the project leader who was “a sign of goodwill” for the Vucic regime in Serbia, with the mediation of Richard Grenell, former US ambassador to Germany and special envoy for the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.
It is further stated that the Vucic regime changed the status of the General Staff building, which was destroyed during the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999, for this purpose.
And it seemed that it was all over, it seemed that Trump’s son-in-law was going to build a hotel in Belgrade, but the change came after Zoran Vasic, the director of the Republican Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia, admitted that the document that lost the status of a cultural asset was forged.
Der Spiegel, referring to statements by some opposition politicians in Serbia, wrote that this could be Vucic’s revenge on Trump after the recent diplomatic fiasco in Florida.
Der Spiegel, commenting on Vucic’s statement that “there was no forgery”, writes that it is hard to believe that this is possible in a country full of corruption, where the President has unlimited power.
However, the German media leaves open the possibility that the whole story about the stopping of the construction of the hotel by Trump’s son-in-law may be the result of student pressure, since it is known that one of the student demands was to stop the construction of a hotel on the site of the General Staff building../Oslobodjene.ba/
