One of the biggest lies spread by the Serbs is that Russia and Serbia are historical allies and friends. Russia has had no different attitude towards Serbia than any other superpower, sometimes much worse. Russia gave lukewarm support to the Serbian revolt against Turkey, much less than, for example, Austria-Hungary. After the Russo-Turkish war and Russia’s victory, the Peace of San Stefano was signed on 3 March 1978. With this treaty, Russia intended to create a great Bulgaria as its ally, at the expense of Serbia! It was envisaged that Bulgaria would receive the vast areas of Pirot, Nis, Leskovac, Vranje, Prokuplje, Kosovo Pomoravlje, as well as part of the Aegean and Ohrid Seas and all of Macedonia! This was opposed by Serbia and Greece, and in June of that year, with the support of the Western countries, especially Germany and Vienna, everything changed at the Berlin Congress. Serbia then became independent and soon a kingdom, thanks to the support of the West, not Russia! The Obrenovićs then made an enemy in Russia, which helped to assassinate King Alexander in 1903, allowing the Karađorđević dynasty to come to power! Little known later, Russia was the last to declare war on Austria-Hungary in 1914 after its attack on Serbia! England, France, Belgium … they do it before her! After the Great War, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia became probably the biggest enemy of the USSR in Europe. As long as King Alexander was alive, not even diplomatic relations were established! During this time, the Comintern, with the help of local communists, waged a ‘special war’ against Belgrade, disrupting the political system, assassinating ministers, even trying to kill King Alexander … This war is still going on today!
Russia influences Serbia through various channels and mechanisms – political, economic, media, security and social. It also uses hybrid warfare methods to shape public opinion and influence political processes.
– Political influence: Links with political parties and individuals advocating pro-Russian positions; lobbying through the Russian embassy and cultural institutions (such as the Russian House, which serves to spread the Russian narrative); parliamentary cooperation.
There are already a few names of politicians who are openly representing the Russian narrative in Serbia! They are Minister Nenad Popović, who is more responsible for the lies about economic cooperation, for spreading fairy tales about Russia’s economic power and the benefits that Serbia derives from this cooperation. The other, regionally known, is Aleksandar Vulin, who promotes the story of a ‘Serbian world’, maintains communication with the Russian security services, often openly serves Russian interests and represents Russian policy in Serbia, even advocating positions against the EU or its neighbors, contrary to the official positions of President Vucic! But know one thing, what Vulin is saying is the REAL POLICY of Aleksandar Vucic, which is the complete occupation of the Balkans the moment Russia wins the war in Ukraine!
Vucic is the number 1 man of Putin’s Nazi-Stalinist regime in the Western Balkans! He is playing a game with the EU, the UK, the US and NATO to try to ‘sell’ them on the need for a more peaceful relationship with Russia because of the traditional friendship of the Balkan Orthodox peoples with Russia. At the same time, he is strengthening economic cooperation with China, to the extent that China will become Serbia’s first economic partner this year! This will be a historic precedent for Serbia, and the reason is that Vucic has left the mining and sale of copper, gold, etc., as well as the logging and sale of timber, completely to China! All these are secret contracts, without public tenders, and they are the basis of corruption in Serbia! When we add to this the work on building infrastructure, we even come to the accident of 15 November and the collapse of the canopy in Novi Sad!
Do not be under any illusions – until we overthrow Vucic, Putin will rule Serbia and interfere in the internal affairs of neighboring countries!
– Media influence and information: pro-Russian media (Sputnik Serbia, RT Balkans and local tabloids Informer, Večernje Novosti, Politika, Srbin.info, Pravda.rs, spreading pro-Russian narratives and disinformation)! The Russian narrative is promoted most strongly by the national TV channels Pink and Happy and, more recently, by TV Informer! All these media, without respect for journalistic codes, without any ethics, literally promote Kremlin propaganda. Of course, they are helped in all this by Vucic, who has provided them with a whole host of ‘analysts’, ‘experts’ and ‘patriots’ who appear daily on these media and predict the victory and world domination of ‘righteous Orthodox Russia’, as well as the imminent collapse of the ‘rotten West’! A huge number of such guests are forwarded to the media by the Russian Embassy itself, as well as, if necessary, occasionally to remind Vucic whose servant he is! These people are often guests of Moscow on various occasions!
Social networks and botnets (organized groups of trolls and bots that spread pro-Russian messages, manipulate debates and promote polarization); Telegram and alternative platforms used to coordinate propaganda activities and spread conspiracy theories. All this for the whole of the Western Balkans, just organized in Belgrade! This army is increasingly occupying the media space and is becoming more and more important for Russia, as the aforementioned media cannot spread the message past the elderly population of Serbia!
To be continued, part 2 …
