Dijana Hrka explains why she will not respond to Vučić’s invitation

Dijana Hrka, the mother of one of the victims of the canopy collapse, who has been on hunger strike in front of the parliament for nine days, addressed the citizens of Serbia and refused to meet with Aleksandar Vučić.

“He invited me to talk to him, but given that he said he has no authority over the prosecution or my demands, I don’t know what to ask him or what to talk about after a year,” Hrka said.

She added that she believes the invitation was intended to allow Vučić to “put himself in the spotlight” and cover up the fact that she was attacked with a cannon.

“I want the institutions to do their job and find out who fired the cannon at me, who came from Čaciland,” Hrka said.

Let us recall that Hrka began her hunger strike on November 2 at 11:52 a.m., after a large protest in Novi Sad, which took place on the anniversary of the accident.

Dijana Hrka’s demands

As a condition for ending the strike, Dijana Hrka demanded that the authorities interrogate and detain all persons suspected of demolishing the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad so that, as she says, “the trials can finally begin” and that not only the 13 originally charged will be held accountable.

She also demanded that “all illegally detained students” who, according to her, were arrested during the protest be released and “cleared of all charges.”

One of her demands also relates to the calling of early parliamentary elections, which she says should be called by the Serbian president as soon as possible. When announcing her hunger strike, she said that the authorities should “call elections and release all students from detention.”

Hrka also stressed that the competent institutions – the prosecutor’s office and the police – must “do their job and find out who killed her child and the other 15 people,” demanding a full investigation and the prosecution of those responsible./Danas/
