Serbia and Russia have once again underscored their close relations. The latest step is the opening of a representative office of the Russian Historical Society (RIO) in Belgrade. The opening of branches in seven other regions has been announced.
This decision was made at the general assembly of the RIO, TASS reported, The Geopost reports.
“It is proposed to establish the representative office of the Russian Historical Society in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia,” said Ruslan Gagkuev, chairman of the RIO board.
Although he was asked if anyone was against this initiative, the question was rhetorical.
“Colleagues, do you have any objections? The decision has been made,” said the President of RIO and Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, a close confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
We recall that Aleksandar Vulin, former deputy prime minister of Serbia and former head of the BIA, chairman of the supervisory board of the public company Srbijagas since May, often met with Naryshkin.
In February of this year, according to a press release from his cabinet, Vulin informed Naryshkin during a meeting in Moscow about the attempt by Western secret services to initiate a colour revolution in Serbia and destabilize the Republic of Serbia.
The same statement said that Naryshkin had expressed his pleasure at the meeting with Vulin as a “proven friend of Russia” and at the same time emphasized that Russia allegedly “supports stability in the Balkans”.
Such statements illustrate how Serbia uses its relations with Russia for its own interests and always tries to win its support. /The Geopost/
