The Armed Forces of Ukraine have released a video that has sparked widespread reactions, showing an unusual Russian assault on Ukrainian defensive positions — this time carried out on horseback.
According to a statement from the 5th Assault Battalion of the 92nd Independent Assault Brigade, Ukrainian soldiers identified a group of Russian forces approaching the frontline on horses, reportedly due to a shortage of military vehicles and equipment.
In a post published on the official Facebook page of the 92nd Brigade, it is stated that heavy equipment losses during recent offensives have forced Russian troops to resort to primitive means of movement.
“Russian occupiers are losing equipment so rapidly during their so-called ‘mass assaults’ that they are forced to move on horseback. But even this does not help them — drone operators of the 5th Assault Battalion neutralize the enemy as soon as they are detected,” the statement said.
Ukrainian positions, protected by drones, managed to repel the attack, and the mounted group failed to break through the defensive lines. The video has also triggered numerous reactions within Ukraine itself.
Ukrainian soldier and civic activist Mykola Voroshnov wrote that he initially thought the footage was a joke or an AI-generated experiment, but it was later confirmed by drone pilots.
“This is insane. I thought it was a joke, but it’s not. I feel sorry for the horses, definitely,” he wrote.
It is worth recalling that earlier reports indicated that, due to a lack of logistical resources, Russian ground forces have also used donkeys for transport at the front line, highlighting the growing difficulties faced by the Russian army on the battlefield. /The GeoPost.
