On Sunday, October 19, a police operation took place in Zvecan. In this context, Serbia was activated with its narratives against Kosovo.
However, the Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office, which also announced the operation, stated that it was related to the investigation into the murder of an official of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) in 2013.
“During the operation, which was also supported by other relevant units of the Kosovo police, seven people were escorted to the police and released after questioning as part of regular proceedings,” the announcement said.
Raids were carried out at nine locations, seven in Zubin Potok and two in Zvecan.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office stated that two weapons, ammunition, clothing with nationalist content, binoculars, documents, various electronic devices, and more were seized during the operation.
The raids were carried out on suspicion of criminal offenses: “Endangering United Nations personnel or personnel associated with them, aggravated murder, and bodily harm to an official person in the performance of their official duties,” the statement said.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office and the Kosovo police reaffirm their commitment to fighting organized crime and want to bring to justice those who violate security, law, and order in the Republic of Kosovo.
Serbia described Sunday’s action as “a continuation of the brutal physical and legal oppression of the Serbian people.”
“The police operation was aimed at intimidating Serbian families who have lived in these areas for decades and causing unrest among them,” the Serbian government’s Kosovo office said.
The Serbian List also did not remain silent. It portrayed the escort of seven people to the police as a “brutal arrest of Serbs” in ZubinPotok and Zvecan, claiming that the action was “part of a campaign of terror against Serbs organized by the government under AlbinKurti.”
Lithuanian AudriusSenavicius was the first member of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) to be killed in the line of duty since the mission was established in Kosovo.
His murder occurred on September 19, 2013, when two EULEX vehicles were attacked in the municipality of Zvecan. They were on their way back from the border crossing to Serbia./The Geopost/
