The Serbian List, which is running in the October 12 local elections in Serbian-dominated municipalities in Kosovo, has announced a rally in northern Mitrovica for today.
However, it is once again striking that the Serbian List is acting as an extension of Serbia in Kosovo and following Serbian-Russian narratives.
This political subject has announced that singer Anđela Ignjatović, known as “Breskvica,” will perform at the rally on Wednesday (on the eve of local elections in Kosovo). She is one of the singers of the controversial song “Gnezdo orlovo” (Eagle’s Nest), which was supposed to represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The song contains coded messages about Serbia’s return to Kosovo.
The event is being organized with the official logo of the Serbian List, which has even announced that tickets are available at the offices of this subject.
“Breskvica in our city – October 8, 8:00 p.m., Knez Caffe,” North Mitrovica. “Tickets are available at the offices of the Serbian List.”
Furthermore, the lyrics of Ignjatović’s song contain verses that allegorically describe Albanians as “black birds,” Kosovo as an “eagle’s nest” destroyed by forces of nature (suggesting military intervention), and the return of the “enlightened being,” representing the Serbian army, which comes to “liberate” the territory. Excerpts from the song lyrics and their meaning: “A gray cloud covers the sky, again the black birds” (the black birds are interpreted as Albanians) “Thunder, rain, hail and destroy the eagle’s nest” (the eagle’s nest = Kosovo; destruction implies military intervention) “Father says to the little eagle, “It will pass.” The black birds will flee, the bright creature will return” (A clear message about the return of the Serbian army to Kosovo and the withdrawal of the Albanians). The attempt to represent Serbia with such a song on an international stage like the Eurovision Song Contest was seen not only as a political provocation, but also as an attempt to rehabilitate the criminal stories of the past.
The organization of an election rally by the Serbian List was also confirmed by the deputy police director of the northern region, Veton Elshani, but he did not provide any further information./The Geopost/
