Was it because of the increasingly obvious shift towards the East that the Serbian president did not have a very successful mission in America, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly?
Was it because of the increasingly obvious shift towards the East that the Serbian president did not have a very successful mission?
He ate sandwiches, drank beer, attended informal parties, one evening with his wife, but Serbia was not present at the main party organized by America.
According to the former ambassador to the United States, the Serbian president was distracted by bilateral meetings and may have been waiting for the chief US financier, who did not show up. In short, it did not go so well.
“How do you make a plan to break through a wall with your head? Tell me – do you hit it with your left or right corner? Either way, your head will be smashed on both sides,” asked Aleksandar Vučić.
Foreign policy analyst Boško Jakšić explains it differently.
“It is clear that relations with the West, the EU, and the US are not progressing well. This is a reflection of the geostrategic circumstances in which Vučić still believes he can cooperate with some, others, third parties, and fourth parties, but in such a world, this is no longer possible,” said Jakšić.
The Serbian president wanted to sit down with everyone, but US sanctions against NIS prevented him from doing so, so he called on the people for help.
“I entered a deep tunnel, I went halfway through the tunnel, I see no ray of light anywhere, so without irony, I ask all people, please, because I am convinced that we have at least seven million people who know this business better than I do, to help me find a solution, because I cannot see one at the moment,” said the Serbian president.
Vučić has failed to resolve the issue with NIS because he is afraid of offending the Russians, says Jakšić.
“American patience has run out, sanctions will follow from October 1, and these are not only sanctions against NIS, but also against Vučić,” he said. Radomir Lazović, a member of the Green-Left Front, shares a similar opinion.
“I think that in foreign policy we should look at Serbia’s interests, and what Vučić is doing is buying his stay in power with this foreign policy. I also view the events surrounding NIS through this lens, and I think that sanctions are a complete failure of our foreign policy,” Lazović assessed.
How people will heat their homes and whether there will be fuel is now uncertain or—interesting?
“It will be an interesting winter. We will look for places where… there are no double walls and double blocks everywhere, so that we can find damaged and older bricks somewhere behind the wallpaper, even if our heads suffer severe blows in order to find a way through this wall, but it will be very difficult,” Vučić described.
And while the president is looking for a way through the wall, he still had to relax a little, together with his wife on a rainy New York evening.
They chose a party organized by the Non-Aligned Movement, which was also attended by the current Serbian ambassador to Washington, Dragan Šutanovac, and the former president of the United Nations General Assembly, Vuk Jeremić.
In addition to dinner, the president also gave an official speech at the meeting, received applause, and met with many people in the hallway. He also boasted about meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who had turned his back on him.
“At a time when Vučić is boasting that Serbia is one of the few countries selling ammunition to Israel, this is very bad for Serbia’s image, and I fear that one day Serbia could be accused of complicity in the genocide in Gaza,” said Jakić.
Journalists were interested in the president’s messages, but it seems that only those for whom Vučić paid for the trip were interested. There were no others, although an employee of Pink, who presented herself as “Serbian media,” strongly denied this on X. “Let me tell you that any media outlet could have made a statement, and that the world media did so, but you didn’t record it from some corner where you’ve been hanging out for the last few days! Keep hiding in corners, realistically speaking, it won’t make you any better. Get out of the Serbian media,” wrote Gordana Uzelac.
Always everything and in accordance with the position and activities of the President of Serbia – at a high level.
