A Russian diplomat, drawn from Brussels among spies by the Belgian authorities, has been nominated to lead a mission in Belgrade to organize the largest security organization in Europe.

Moscow has nominated Dmitry Iordanidin, former head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, with extensive experience in the Balkans, to lead the organization’s mission in Serbia, according to internal OSCE documents provided by REL.

His candidacy, amid growing accusations from the United States and European governments last year for “harmful” Russian activities in the region, was covered by the regional security organization in 57 states, and he moved to Vienna, according to a joint statement from Radios Evropa e Lirë and the European media.

Iordanidi, 55 years old, is one of the 20 Russian diplomats who left Brussels quietly in 2023 because of accusations by the Belgian State Security Service (VSSE) that they were spies who operated under cover, according to a list compiled by Belgian intelligence and independently verified by three Western intelligence sources, according to a joint statement by REL-it, the EUobserver news site based in Brussels. gazetës belge De Morgen, revues javore belge Humo dhe gazetës franceze Le Monde.
