Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandar Grushko traveled to Belgrade on Monday to strengthen ties between the two traditionally allied countries. Lavrov’s deputy met with Interior Minister Ivica Dacic and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin, where they discussed security issues between Russia and Serbia.

It is added that Dacic and Grushko discussed “current security issues” and expressed the need for continuous coordination of the relevant security institutions.

“They also discussed the continuation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on further intensification of cooperation in the field of internal affairs, especially in emergency situations,” the Serbian Interior Ministry said.

They also noted that Serbia cooperates with Russia in the field of internal affairs through the exchange of information and cooperation between the police of both countries.

Lavrov’s deputy did not return to Moscow without also meeting her ally, Serbia’s deputy prime minister and former head of the intelligence service (BIA) Aleksandar Vulin, who is on the US sanctions list for his links to Russia and corruption.

Vulin and Grushko praised the relations between the two countries and promised to deepen them even further.

Vulin thanked Russia for its support for Serbia for Kosovo.

Serbia is a candidate country for the European Union, but it continues to develop its relations with Russia and now China, despite growing concerns and warnings from the EU to coordinate its foreign policy. /The Geopost/
