Despite sanctions, Vučić travels to Bosnia with Porfirije to support Dodik in destabilizing actions

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, together with Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church, traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday to support the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, which is sanctioned by the United States of America.

After the meeting at the Osovica Monastery, Vučić told RTS that Serbia would not abandon its support for Republika Srpska leaders despite the sanctions. He said that he would not do so regardless of which force demanded it, referring to the U.S. and the EU.

Vucic said that the Serbs are being sanctioned without mentioning Dodik’s actions for breaking the Dayton Agreement in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the corrupt affairs he is involved in.

“As the Americans imposed sanctions on the entire leadership of Republika Srpska and sanctions on our people in Kosovo, they imposed sanctions on the head of the Security and Information Agency in Serbia.” Things are getting complicated. “These are not simple things for us, they are complicated not only in the political sense, but also in the economic sense,” Vucic said.

Dodik had earlier made public his plans to destabilize the region. He had threatened to secede Republika Srpska, while most recently refusing to accept the decisions of what Dodik calls “false High Representative,” Christian Schmidt.

For this, he is on the U.S. blacklist.

The actions of Serbian nationalist Milorad Dodik threaten the stability of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the entire region, the U.S. Treasury Department said.

“Milorad Dodik’s destabilizing and corrupt activities and attempts to unravel the peace agreements reached in Dayton, USA, motivated by his self-interest, threaten the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire region,” the U.S. Treasury Department said.

The United States has imposed sanctions on Serb member of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s presidency, Zelka Cvijanovic, and other senior Republika Srpska officials for undermining the 1995 Dayton peace agreement.

The Speaker of the Parliament of the Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandic, the Prime Minister of this entity, Radovan Viskovic, and the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, Milos  Bukejlovic, were also included in the list of sanctions of the US Treasury Department .

The Treasury Department said that the sanctioned officials were directly responsible for promoting the adoption of resolutions by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska to invalidate the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia in that entity. According to the U.S., this action jeopardizes the implementation of the Dayton Agreement.

Despite these developments, Vucic had no problem traveling to Bosnia to encourage Dodik in his anti-Western and anti-democratic actions.

“We have to support each other and we will continue the projects,” Vucic said after his meeting in Bosnia./The Geopost/
